Army MOS 42F Human Resources Information Management Specialist

Information on the Army and its Soldiers and Officers needs to be very organized and properly documented. It’s the Human Resources Information System Management Specialist’s job to keep it that way. The Human Resources Information System Management Specialist operates and manages the information systems for field personnel, as well as trains and assists all system users.

Some of your duties as a Human Resources Information System Management Specialist may include:

Receive, review, analyze, process, distribute and maintain personnel information files and supporting  documentation
Prepare update cycle control documents and input and transmits to servicing data processing facility
Maintain authorized strength levels, organizational and systems control files
Execute and monitor automated interface with other automated systems
Monitor status of unresolved errors and initiates required corrective action
Monitor process of feedback from HQDA and takes necessary corrective action
Monitor performance of systems users
Identify problems and discrepancies
Provide assistance or refer resolution to superiors
Prepare correspondence and forms in draft and final copy
Post changes to Army regulations and other publications

Training
Job training for Human Resources Information System Management Specialists requires nine weeks of Basic Training, where you’ll learn basic Soldiering skills, and eight weeks of Advanced Individual Training with classroom instruction.

How to manage personnel records
Computer update and retrieval procedures

Advanced Responsibilities
Advanced level Human Resources Information System Management Specialists provides guidance, supervises and trains other Soldiers within the same discipline. As an advanced level Human Resource Information System Management Specialist, you may be involved in:

Supervise field personnel information systems
Determine personnel requirements, establish work priorities, organize work schedules, assign duties and instruct
subordinates in work techniques and procedures. Review cyclic and other reports to assess systems performance
Maintain liaison with servicing data processing facility and field managers of interfaced systems Prepare and monitor
plans for supporting mobilization
